CitiPower operates a 157 sq km distribution network in Melbourne’s CBD and inner suburbs with over 4,500 km of power lines. CitiPower and Powercor (together known as Victoria Power Networks) are Victoria’s largest electricity suppliers, delivering electricity to over 1.2 million residential households and commercial customers across Victoria. CitiPower was rated the 2nd most productive distribution network in the National Electricity Market.
2 Powercor
Powercor operates Victoria’s largest electricity distribution network with more than half a million poles and 77,000 km of power lines. CitiPower and Powercor (together known as Victoria Power Networks) networks stretch from central Melbourne, west to the borders of South Australia, and north to New South Wales. Powercor was rated the 3rd most productive distribution network in the National Electricity Market.
3 SA Power Networks
SA Power Networks operates South Australia’s electricity distribution network covering 178,200 sq km and consisting of 89,426 km of power lines, delivering electricity to around 1.7 million customers incorporating 900,000 homes and businesses. SA Power Networks is rated the most productive distribution network in the National Electricity Market.
4 Transgrid
Transgrid is the operator of the high voltage electricity transmission network connecting generators, distributors and major end users in NSW and the ACT across over 13,052 km of transmission lines. Transgrid’s network consists of 121 substations and switching stations, over 100km of underground cables and 5 interconnections to Queensland and Victoria, forming the backbone of the National Electricity Market. Transgrid facilitates energy trading between Australia's eastern states and is critical in supporting the least cost transition to a low emissions, renewable future. Transgrid was rated the 3rd most productive transmission network in the National Electricity Market.
